Welcome to the Braughing & Standon N gauge model railway layout.
"As featured in N Gauge Journal Oct 2023 & BRM Magazine Dec 2023"
The layout is constructed in an end-to-end configuration and I decided to run it using Direct Control (DC), which better suited the reduced operational activities of a branch line nearing its final closure. Its dimensions are 18ft by 18in and is built in 4 x 4ft module sections, which are easily dismantled for both storage and transportation to shows or exhibitions. As of Sept 2024 two small 4ft x 1ft fiddle yards have been added to either end so the layout resembles a long 'U' shape. It is primarily scratch built, other than the rolling stock, signals, vehicles, people and a few lineside accessories which were 'off the shelf' products. This is my first ever model railway project which I dedicate to my two wonderful grandsons and also the late Trevor Reedman, former Chairman of the Buntingford Railway and Local History Society.
The layout is now being taken on the road to various exhibitions, its first debut being at Whitewebbs Museum of Transport Model Railway Day on 13th July, where it was very well received. Details on the layouts current exhibition bookings and its requirements have now been added to this website but feel free to contact me for any additional queries. Thank you, and please enjoy the layout.
